[ÆíÁýÀÚÁÖ] Money Today has launched a year-round series in a joint effort with Samsung Electronics' Mutual Development and Cooperation Center to help small businesses promote their products. The goal of this project is to publicize the products and services of next-generation firms in three languages (Korean, English, Chinese) around the world. The series is sponsored by the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership.

¡°We have gained diverse and priceless experiences through OEM transactions with large conglomerates¡±

Seeing and hearing large scale technological power and equipment with your own eyes is as important as firsthand experiences. Based in Gangneung with a clean natural environment, East Green keeps growing by experiencing the equipment, production capacity and technological prowess of large conglomerates.

Founded in 1994, East Green manufactures ice cream for Lotte Confectionary and Lotte Foods, which dominate the Korean ice cream market. It produces various kinds of ice cream, including sandwich, bar and tube types. CEO Oh Il-ho states that "There are few opportunities to see the technologies conglomerates use" and that his company "acquired production equipment, manufacturing technologies and crisis management skills through OEM."

CEO Oh Il-do didn't settle for business with conglomerates, but also constructed a research center to develop East Green's own technologies. There are around ten original equipment manufacturers of ice cream in Korea, but only a few among them have their own research centers.

CEO Oh invigorated his company's research center so that it could develop its own recipes and manufacturing technologies. ¡°I even hired a center chief with a doctoral degree to carry out research projects." he says.

East Green launched its private brand 'Cool Rush' using its own manufacturing technologies and recipes. The brand consists of around 30 items that are supplied to convenience stores and supermarkets. CEO Oh says that his company will continue to appeal to consumers through the eye-catching packaging and outstanding taste of its products.

By using its smart factory, East Green can ensure the consistent quality and taste of its products. The company has automated equipment for crushing frozen cream when making ice cream. An authority from East Green said that "the equipment enables workers to reduce their workload and ensure a uniform quality of the products."

The economic depression in the domestic market and the growing number of competitors presented East Green with many challenges, prompting CEO Oh to turn his eyes to overseas markets. East Green's products are currently sold, albeit in small quantities, in the United States, Australia, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Like many other firms, East Green is also eyeing the Chinese and U.S. markets. CEO Oh is determined to appeal to domestic and overseas consumers by developing 'something different' that stands out and "achieve more than five million dollars in exports."
